Moros i Cristians

Hello there, here I am again!

It's been a long time, but this week has been so busy! We finished the whole project around the European Day of Languages and we partied!

Starting on Friday, there was the Moros i Cristians festival here in Alzira. It lasted all weekend and is actually meant to commemorate the reconquista of Spain. This festival is celebrated not only in Alzira, but all over the country. On Friday, it started with the opening of a medieval market and a parade. There was a lot of music! On Saturday, there were many activities like children's entertainment and marches, but the highlight of the day was the beautiful parade at the end! Hundreds of people participated, dressed up in costume or making music. The parade actually told the history of the reconquista, which was very educational. It is nice to see that on special days like this, the whole city comes together to celebrate. Today, the festival ended with cannon shots and more music, a weekend to remember!

And also yesterday, as if one party wasn't enough, there were the Oktoberfests. Lots of food trucks, performances and music, that's all you need.

Het is een lange tijd geleden, maar deze week was zo druk! We hebben het hele project rond de Europese dag van de talen afgerond en we hebben gefeest!

Vanaf vrijdag was er het Moros i Cristians festival hier in Alzira. Het duurde het hele weekend en is eigenlijk bedoeld om de reconquista van Spanje te herdenken. Dit feest wordt niet alleen in Alzira gevierd, maar in het hele land. Op vrijdag begon het met de opening van een middeleeuwse markt en een optocht. Er was ook veel muziek! Op zaterdag waren er de hele dag activiteiten zoals kinderanimatie en optochten, maar het hoogtepunt van de dag was de prachtige optocht aan het eind! Honderden mensen deden mee, verkleed in kostuum of muziekmakend. De parade vertelde eigenlijk de geschiedenis van de reconquista, wat erg leerzaam was. Het is mooi om te zien dat op speciale dagen als deze de hele stad samenkomt om feest te vieren. Vandaag eindigde het festival met kanonschoten en meer muziek, een weekend om nooit te vergeten!

En ook gisteren, alsof één feest nog niet genoeg was, waren er nog de Oktoberfesten. Veel foodtrucks, optredens en muziek, meer heb je niet nodig.
